DURACION DE LA LICENCIA. La duración de la licencia de exploración se contará desde la fecha de su registro y será

De un (1) año para la licencia cuya área original sea hasta de cien (100) hectáreas, prorrogables hasta por uno (1) más.

De dos (2) años para la que tenga un área original de más de cien (100) hectáreas sin pasar de mil (1.000) hectáreas, prorrogables hasta por un (1) año más, y

De cinco (5) años para aquella cuya área original exceda de mil (1.000) hectáreas.
