El Instituto de Colonización e Inmigración se subroga en las operaciones, activos y obligaciones del Instituto de Parcelaciones, Colonización y Defensa Forestal, creado por el Decreto 1483 de 1948 y cuya liquidación ha sido ordenada por el Decreto que se reglamenta. En consecuencia, la liquidación de este Instituto sólo tendrá por objeto determinar sus activos y obligaciones, hecha la segregación de la Sección de Defensa Forestal, que pasa a ser dependencia del Ministerio de Agricultura.
