Origen . Fue establecida en el artículo 48 del Decreto 1776 de 1979, Reglamento de Régimen Disciplinario FF.MM, como premio al soldado o Infante de Marina que en cada contingente, en cada unidad militar, terrestre, aérea o a flote, se destaque por su excelente conducta, virtudes militares, aprovechamiento en la instrucción, sentido de pertenencia con la Institución, iniciativa e interés por el servicio.
