La estructura interna del Inci será determinada por su Consejo Directivo, de acuerdo con lo establecido por las normas vigentes. Las unidades de nivel directivo se denominarán Sub - Direcciones o Secretarias. Las Unidades Asesoras o coordinadoras de llamarán Oficinas o Comités, y Consejos cuando en ellas se incluyan personas ajenas al Instituto. Las Unidades operativas, incluidas las que atienden los servicios administrativos internos, se denominarán Divisiones, Secciones y Grupos. Las unidades que se creen para el estudio y decisión de asuntos especiales se denominarán Comisiones o Juntas.
