La Universidad y los bienes que constituyen su patrimonio, estarán exentos de impuestos nacionales. Asimismo se autoriza al Departamento y a los Municipios para establecer dichas exenciones. Quedan también exentas de todo gravamen o deposito las importaciones en libros y revistas, laboratorios, sustancias, equipos, materiales de dotación, deportivos, etc. , que la Universidad haya de adquirir para sus servicios científicos, administrativos y asistenciales. Tales importaciones requerirán el visto bueno del Fondo Universitario Nacional y la licencia correspondiente del Ministerio de Hacienda.
