Son funciones del Coordinador del Comité Ejecutivo Nacional de Prevención y Control de la Infección por el HIV y del SIDA, las siguientes: - Desempeñar la Secretaría Ejecutiva del Consejo Nacional de SIDA. - Convocar y presidir el Comité Ejecutivo Nacional de Prevención y Control de la Infección por el HIV y del SIDA. - Servir de enlace entre el Consejo Nacional de SIDA y el Comité Ejecutivo Nacional de Prevención y Control de la Infección por el HIV y del SIDA. - Orientar todas las acciones del Comité Ejecutivo. - Tramitar ante los estamentos superiores los documentos pertinentes. - Cumplir y hacer cumplir el reglamento interno.

Decreto 559 de 1991 · por el cual se reglamentan parcialmente las Leyes 09 de 1979 y 10 de 1990, en cuanto a la prevención, control y vigilancia de las enfermedades transmisibles, especialmente lo relacionado con la infección del Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana, HIV, y el Síndrome de Inmuno deficiencia Adquirida, SIDA, y se dictan otras disposiciones sobre la materia.
