Artículo 1

Objetivos.

Los objetivos del Convenio son:

1.

Conservar y fomentar el entendimiento entre productores y consumidores necesario para concertar un nuevo Convenio internacional del café y para evitar las consecuencias perjudiciales para ambos que resultarían de la terminación de la cooperación internacional;

2.

Conservar la Organización Internacional del Café

a)

como foro para la negociación de un nuevo Convenio;

b)

como centro competente y eficaz para la reunión y difusión de información estadística sobre el comercio internacional del café, y en particular sobre precios, exportaciones, importaciones, existencias, distribución y consumo de café, así como sobre producción y tendencias de la producción.
