Es deber del Gobierno nacional, en coordinación con la Gobernación del departamento de Bolívar y la Alcaldía Distrital de Santa Cruz de Mompox, salvaguardar, preservar y promocionar las actividades, expresiones y prácticas culturales, así como las manifestaciones culturales asociadas, que se realizan en desarrollo de la celebración y conmemoración de la Semana Santa en el Distrito Especial, Turístico, Histórico y Cultural Santa Cruz de Mompox.
