Si hubiere de aplicarse la libertad vigilada a enfermos de la mente o intoxicados, el juez, ejecutoriada la providencia en que se imponga, la comunicará al Director General de Prisiones y, según el caso, a la familia del condenado o al Director del hospital o manicomio común respectivo.

Cuando el infractor sea consignado a la familia, el juez podrá exigir caución que garantice el cumplimiento de la medida.
