La sanción disciplinaria tiene como fines el encauzamiento de la conducta de los destinatarios de este código, preservar la disciplina y los principios orientadores de la función administrativa. Cumple, además, una función preventiva y correctiva para garantizar la efectividad de los principios y fines previstos en la Constitución, la ley y los tratados internacionales aplicables en Colombia.
