La administración de las Cárceles, Penitenciarías y Colonias Penales dependerá del Ministerio de Gobierno, conforme al Artículo 119 de la Constitución y a las leyes expedidas en desarrollo de ese precepto. En consecuencia, dicha administración estará a cargo del Departamento de Prisiones del Ministerio de Gobierno.
