Para Ascender a Teniente Primero se requiere además, haber aprobado el curso de perfeccionamiento correspondiente, en la Escuela "General Santander", o en su defecto, haber presentado y aprobado en la misma Escuela los exámenes correspondientes a las materias de dicho curso, de conformidad con el pensum entonces vigente. Para ascender a Subcomandante y a Comandante de División se requiere invariablemente haber aprobado los cursos correspondientes en la Escuela "General Santander".
