Cuando se establezca una múltiple cedulación, falsa identidad o suplantación, o se expida cédula de ciudadanía a un menor o a un extranjero, la Registraduría Nacional del Estado Civil cancelará la cédula o cédulas indebidamente expedidas y pondrá el hecho en conocimiento de la autoridad competente. Pero si se establece que la cédula se expidió a un menor de edad cuando éste ya es mayor, la cédula no será cancelada sino rectificada.
