Inteligencia Estratégica . Es aquel conocimiento especial que permite penetrar el futuro, disminuir las incertidumbres y contribuir a la toma de decisiones del Alto Gobierno. Así la Inteligencia Estratégica, IE, que desarrolla el Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad determina riesgos, oportunidades, pertinencia y relevancia de los asuntos de interés nacional, con el fin de reducir las incertidumbres a través de la identificación de escenarios de corto, mediano y largo plazo, que le permitan al Alto Gobierno preservar la Seguridad Nacional.
