La Nación teniendo en cuenta la significación trascendental que tuvo la vida del doctor Jaramillo en el norte del Cauca la grande importancia de sus actividades para su Departamento y el del Valle, a los que sirvió siempre con su inteligencia fulgurante, con su dinamismo fecundo, con su eficacia ejemplar, como Concejero en varios Municipios; ya como Diputado a la Asamblea de ambos Departamentos; así como Representante al Congreso en varios periodos, y desde elevadas posiciones administrativas, judiciales y políticas, lo declaran hijo benemérito del occidente colombiano.
