Cuando un Suboficial de las Fuerzas de Policía falleciere en servicio activo antes de cumplir el tiempo determinado para la pensión, y por causas diferentes a las citadas en el artículo anterior, sus herederos, en el orden preferencial establecido en este Estatuto, tendrán derecho a que el Tesoro Público les pague por una sola vez, una indemnización en dinero igual a veinticuatro (24) meses de sueldo correspondiente al grado del causante y al auxilio de la cesantía que le corresponde.
