Articulación con el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible. Los Institutos de acuerdo con su naturaleza, establecerán prioritariamente los estudios, investigaciones, inventarios y actividades de seguimiento y manejo de información, orientados a:

1.

Fundamentar la toma de decisiones en materia de política ambiental.

2.

Suministrar los datos y la información ambiental que requieren el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible y demás entidades del Sistema Nacional Ambiental (SINA) para la expedición de normas, disposiciones y regulaciones para el ordenamiento del territorio, el manejo, uso y aprovechamiento del medio ambiente y los recursos naturales renovables.

Parágrafo

Las necesidades y prioridades a que hace referencia el presente artículoserán informadas a los Institutos, por parte del Ministro de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible a través de sus Juntas Directivas.
