ARTICULO 1º. Funciones. La Oficina de Investigaciones Especiales de la Procuraduría General de la Nación tendrá las siguientes funciones

Iniciar e instruir las investigaciones propias del Ministerio Público que directamente le asigne el Procurador General de la Nación.

Asesorar a las diversas dependencias de la Procuraduría General de la Nación y del Ministerio Público en los aspectos técnico científicos que requieran las diferentes investigaciones.

Proseguir las investigaciones que determine el Jefe de la Oficina, a solicitud de los funcionarios del Ministerio Público, según su competencia

Adelantar oficiosamente las indagaciones preliminares que se requieran por hechos relacionados con enriquecimiento ilícito.
