El Asesor Especial tendrá como función principal la de cooperar en las actividades relacionadas con el desarrollo de los Convenios de carácter económico interamericano suscritos por Colombia, preparar la participación del país en cada una de las reuniones de los organismos establecidos en el Continente para dar ejecución a dichos Convenios y formar parte de la representación nacional a tales reuniones.
