Por medio de este decreto se establece el Simco, el cual tendrá por objeto consolidar en un sistema de información el conocimiento de la riqueza del subsuelo en el territorio nacional y los espacios marítimos jurisdiccionales; la información georrefenciada, estadísticas oficiales y documentales del sector de la minería y de su entorno económico y social.
