Nacionalizanse, a partir del 1°. de febrero de 1960, los siguientes establecimientos de enseñanza dependientes de la Secretaria de Educación del Departamento del Magdalena: "Instituto Virginia Gómez", de Ciénaga; "Escuela Normal Rural Sánchez Chica", de Rio de Oro; "Liceo Polo Lara", de Chiriguana, y "Colegio Gabriel Escobar Ballestas", de Plato.
