Ley 25 de 1987 · por la cual se reforma parcialmente y se adiciona el Decreto 80 de 1980, que organiza el sistema de educación post-secundaria.

El artículo 74 del Decreto 80, quedará así:

"La Dirección de las Instituciones Intermedias Profesionales corresponde al rector, cuya designación compete al Presidente de la República, al Gobernador, al Intendente, al Comisario o al Alcalde, según que la institución sea nacional o regional, departamental, intendencial, comisarial o municipal.

Podrán asignarse al rector las funciones pertinentes previstas para los Consejos Directivos o Juntas de establecimientos públicos.

En caso de que sean unidades docentes del Ministerio de Educación Nacional, el nombramiento del rector corresponde al Ministro".
