Para conmemorar el centenario del General José María Córdoba, y como tributo de admiración y gratitud que rinda la Republica a la memoria del héroe de Ayacucho se erigirá en la plaza principal de Rionegro, Departamento de Antioquia, lugar natal del ilustre General granadino, una estatua costeada con fondos nacionales, que llevara en su pedestal esta inscripción:

"A CORDOBA, VENCEDOR EN AYACUCHO

El Pueblo Colombiano

1898"
