Como homenaje a su ciudad natal, y para perpetuar la memoria de tan ilustre ciudadano, la Nación contribuirá con la suma de doscientos mil pesos ($ 200.000.00) para el ensanche del Acueducto Municipal de Barbosa (Antioquia), y construirá en el Hospital de la misma ciudad" un pabellón materno-infantil, que llevará el nombre de "Alejandro Echavarria.
