El Decreto 1790 de 2000 tendrá un nuevo artículo:

Retiro de Sargento Mayor de Comando Conjunto y sus equivalentes en las Fuerzas Militares. Los Suboficiales de grado Sargento Mayor de Comando Conjunto, pasarán a retiro temporal con pase a la reserva al cumplir tres (3) años de servicio en el grado.
