El censo es una operación estadística por medio de la cual se realizan las actividades de recolección, análisis y difusión de información sobre la enumeración y las características generales de todas las unidades de observación definidas de acuerdo con su alcance temático (viviendas, hogares, personas, unidades económicas, agropecuarias, entre otras), referidas a un momento o período determinado y que generalmente se aplica al 100% del territorio nacional.
