La pérdida podrá ser total o parcial. La primera podrá ser pérdida total real o efectiva, o pérdida total constructiva o asimilada. Una y otra se considerarán incluidas en el seguro contra pérdida total.

Promovida una acción de pérdida total, podrá hacerse efectiva la pérdida parcial si sólo ésta logra establecerse.
