Como homenaje a este ilustre colombiano, la Nación auxilia la Casa Campesina de la ciudad de Marinilla, creada por la Ley 104 de 1948 , con la suma de ciento cincuenta mil pesos ($ 150.000.00), dinero que será gastado para la ampliación del edificio, dotación de un moderno consultorio médico para servicio de campesinos pobres y un salón para conferencias culturales y biblioteca popular.
