Origen . La Medalla "San Jorge" categoría única, creada mediante Disposición número 003 del 31 de marzo de 1955 del Comando del Ejército y reglamentada mediante Decreto 1880 de 1988, como estímulo al espíritu de arma y premio al esfuerzo de quienes al servicio de la Escuela de Caballería y unidades del arma, se han distinguido en el cumplimiento de sus deberes.
