La interdicción en el ejercicio de los derechos políticos priva al condenado del ejercicio de todos los derechos políticos reconocidos en el artículo 40 de la Constitución Política. La interdicción en el desempeño de las funciones públicas incluye el formar parte de la Fuerza Pública y de cualquier otro organismo nacional o local de seguridad y de otros cuerpos oficiales armados.
