El Instituto de la Oficina Central de Medicina Legal, para cuyo buen funcionamiento ordenó construir edificio la Ley 94 de 1940 (diciembre 11 -artículos 14, 15, 16 y 17-), será el organismo científico central de todos los servicios médicos legales del país, y, además de prestar sus servicios a la justicia, tendrá la misión de cooperar a la enseñanza de la Medicina Legal en las Facultades de Medicina y de Derecho de la Universidad Nacional.
