El Instituto Nacional de Nutrición, creado por la Ley 44 de 1947 , será a partir de la vigencia de la presente Ley un establecimiento público dotado de personería jurídica, patrimonio y administración propios, el cual trabajará en estrecha cooperación con el Ministerio de Salud Pública, Educación Nacional y Agricultura, la Asociación de Facultades de Medicina y la Escuela de Salud Pública de la Universidad Nacional, por el mejoramiento del estado nutricional de la población colombiana.
