Siendo la retribución económica de los servicios profesionales un derecho, el optómetra fijará sus honorarios de conformidad con su jerarquía científica y en relación con la importancia del tratamiento y circunstancias del tratamiento que debe efectuar, teniendo en cuenta la situación económica del paciente, y previo acuerdo con este o sus responsables. Sometiéndose en todo caso a las tarifas que para el efecto fije el Gobierno Nacional cuando preste sus servicios a una entidad de las que trata la Ley 100 de 1993 .
