Articulo 5° El territorio sometido a la jurisdicción de un Corregidor, constituye con sus habitantes el Corregimiento Intendencial o Comisarial. El Corregidor administrará el Corregimiento bajo la dependencia del Intendente o Comisario, y de acuerdo con las instrucciones de éste, quien podrá nombrarlos y, removerlos libremente, y revisar, revocar o reformar todos sus actos. El Intendente o Comisario ejercerá, además, respecto del Corregimiento, las funciones que en los Municipios corresponden a los Concejos Municipales, en cuanto sean aplicables; pero no podrá crear u organizar rentas distintas de las que se autoricen a los Municipios de la respectiva Intendencia o Comisaría, si los hubiere.
