Artículo primero. Créase en la Intendencia Nacional del Caquetá, el Corregimiento de Cartagena del Chairá, con cabecera en la población del mismo nombre y comprendido dentro de los siguientes límites territoriales: "Partiendo de la confluencia del río Suncilla con Caguán, siguiendo éste aguas arriba hasta donde cae el río Gayas: de este sitio y siguiendo aguas arriba, hasta la confluencia del río Anayá, de este punto, aguas arriba, hasta donde cae la quebrada "Cuarenta y dos", ésta aguas arriba hasta su nacimiento. De este punto línea recta imaginaria abajo, hasta su confluencia con el río Caguán, punto de partida"
