Los encargados de llevar el registro del estado civil de las personas serán:

1º Los Notarios, y en los municipios donde no haya este funcionario el Alcalde Municipal, y

2º Los funcionarios consulares de Colombia en el exterior

Parágrafo

E l - Gobierno reglamentara lo conducente, a efecto de que las inscripciones referentes al registro del estado civil puedan verificarse por conducto de los Corregidores o Inspectores Municipales de Policía, sin perjuicio de la unidad del registro mismo.
