En el Colegio de San Simón, de Ibagué, y de Santa Librada, en Neiva, se colocarán en sus salones de actos, sendos retratos del egregio instructor colombiano, cada uno de los cuales llevará esta inscripción:

"El Congreso de la República de 1936 a la memoria de José Herrera Olarte."
