Para los efectos de otorgamiento, imposición y expedición del diploma respectivo, la medalla queda incluida dentro de la categoría de que trata el Capítulo V del Decreto 1880 de 1988 y se considerará como " medalla por servicios distinguidos prestados a la institución militar", siendo aplicables los artículos 69, 70, 71 y 72 del citado decreto.
