Podrán constituirse y establecerse libremente en Colombia órdenes y asociaciones religiosas de un sexo y de otro, toda vez autotice su canónica fundación la competente superioridad eclesiástica. Ellas se regirán por las constituciones propias de su instituto; y para gozar de personería jurídica y quedar bajo la protección de las leyes deben presentar al Poder Civil la autorización canónica expedida por la respectiva superioridad eclesiástica.
