El Ejército de la República se compondrá en tiempo de paz de cinco Divisiones, una Brigada de Caballería y una Flotilla Fluvial de Guerra, que guarnecerán las cinco zonas militares en que se divide el territorio nacional. Las Divisiones se denominarán: 1, 2, 3, 4 y 5, y sus Comandos Superiores residirán en las ciudades de Bogotá, Barranquilla, Cali, Medellín y Bucaramanga, respectivamente. El Comando de la Brigada de Caballería de Bogotá. La formación de Guerra será decretada por el Gobierno.
