Artículo segundo. Esta labor comprenderá principalmente el saneamiento ambiental a través de obras de ingeniería sanitaria, el control de los mosquitos vectores de la fiebre amarilla y del paludismo, la protección de toda la población por medio de la vacunación contra la fiebre amarilla y contra otras enfermedades transmisibles, el control sanitario de la tuberculosis, la lucha antivenérea, la protección materno-infantil, la odontología sanitaria y los servicios asistenciales.
