El artículo 144 de la Constitución quedará así:

ARTÍCULO 144.

Los Magistrados de la Corte Suprema de Justicia serán elegidos por las Cámaras Legislativas, de ternas que les pasará el Presidente de la República. El Senado y la Cámara elegirán por mitad los Magistrados de la Corte, pero si su número fuere impar, la Cámara elegirá uno más.

Los suplentes serán personales y elegidos en la misma forma que los principales. El Gobierno nombrará los Magistrados interinos de la Corte Suprema y los Gobernadores respectivos nombrarán los de los Tribunales Superiores, cuando las faltas de los principales no puedan ser llenadas por los suplentes.
