El comprobante de pago de la cuota militar será necesario para todos aquellos actos de la vida civil en que se exige la tarjeta de identidad o el certificado de paz y salvo del impuesto sobre la renta. Para que un colombiano pueda ser oído ante las autoridades del orden judicial o administrativo deberá exhibir el comprobante de haber pagado la cuota militar o el certificado expedido por autoridad competente, de estar exento del impuesto. Este certificado no requiere papel sellado ni estampillas.
