La alfabetización constituye la etapa inicial de programas más amplios de educación de adultos y tiene como misión específica la enseñanza de la lectura, escritura, cívica y nociones de aritmética, la iniciación en actividades profesionales, habilitando al alfabetizado par a su ingreso a los cursos de educación general básica y a los de formación profesional.
