Los Tenientes y Subtenientes son los auxiliares del Comandante de Compañía, Escuadrón y Batería en todos los ramos del servicio, tanto del práctico como del interno. Las tareas que corresponden a dichos Oficiales, exigen conocimiento de la tropa y cumplimiento estricto de los Reglamentos y disposiciones superiores, dando mejor ejemplo con su conducta personal.
