Créase la Intendencia Nacional de la Guajira, cuyo territorio quedará integrado por el de la antigua Comisaría Especial de la Guajira y el de los Municipios de Riohacha, Barrancas, Fonseca, San Juan del Cesar y Villanueva, antes pertenecientes al Departamento del Magdalena, cuya capital será la ciudad de Riohacha.
