De acuerdo con lo establecido por el artículo 1º. del Decreto Legislativo 2310 de 1974, los contratos de asociación o de otra índole, que celebre la Empresa Colombiana de Petróleos, Ecopetrol, según lo dispuesto en el presente Decreto, solamente serán válidos con la aprobación del Ministerio de Minas y Energía.
