La participación se pagará por trimestres vencidos, en dinero o en especie, o parte en dinero y parte en especie a elección del Gobierno. El Ministerio de Minas y petróleos deberá dar aviso al concesionario o a su representante en Bogotá, al menos con treinta días de anticipación al vencimiento del respectivo trimestre, de la forma en que el Gobierno exige el pago. Cuando el Ministerio no de dicho aviso, se entenderá que el Gobierno opta por recibir en dinero su participación.
