El Instituto Colombiano de la Juventud y el Deporte tendrá a su cargo el desarrollo y la ejecución de los planes de estímulo y fomento de la educación física, el deporte, las actividades recreativas y de bienestar para la juventud, correspondientes a la política general que formule el Gobierno Nacional, a través del Ministerio de Educación, y según las decisiones que tome la Junta Directiva del Instituto.
