La República de Colombia honra la memoria del insigne aviador del Ejercito Nacional Capitán Ernesto Esguerra Cubides, quien en vuelo bajo su comando y en cumplimiento de su deber, con fecha 2 de junio de 1933, desapareció en la selva del Caquetá, en la época del conflicto colombo-peruano.
